| Chris, I am supporting Oberweis mainly because Brady just cannot win and will be a spoiler at this point. And while I agree with you oppinion about experience Brady just will not win. If he has not caught up at this point, he will not with in the next couple of weeks. I encourage all conservatives to support Oberweis because he is the leading conservative (even though I like Brady alot). The truth is that if Topinka wins I cannot support her because I am a conservative first, and Republican second. All the other candidates are fine (even Gidwitz is tollerable), but Judy is another George Ryan waiting to happen. If my party brings in Topinka as their candidate and slaps me in the face I will work against my party and volunteer for Blago. And I will vote for Stuffelbeam. This will be hard, but I must be loyal to my principles first and party second. |

Good idea. Got to the event at 7:00. Will try to set my clock for 5:00 next Monday. Do you have any "talking points" that you'd like to address? How does the process work?

| Ryan showed his losing ways again by endorsing JBT. |

| I appreciate everyone who participated in tonight's discussion. However, I am concerned that our e-mail announcement did not get delivered to so many of our friends. Therefore, next Monday at 5pm, let's try this again because I can't believe that the various campaigns and their supporters would not be the first to get on this blog to sing their candidates' praises.
So, look for my attempt at an amusing "Voice From the Senate Floor" regarding the "players" in the drama of the 2006 Illinois Republican Primary later this week. I hope to learn from the participation of many more people...same time, same place, Monday March 13th at 5pm. |

| Melissa,
Thanks, I certainly like both Brady and Oberweis on the social issues. Brady has Springfield legislative experience for the past roughly 12 to 14 years, for which you'll need to review what initiatives he has advanced as a lead sponsor. Oberweis takes pride in his role as an outsider, however, my guess is that Jim would like to replay some responses on issues where experience would have helped him, like his pro-life/Taliban analogy that he says was misinterpreted, the use of fear rather than quotes from JFK/Martin Luther King on respect for the law regarding illegal immigration, and the misuse of headlines under newspaper mastheads more recently. But, then don't we all have those situations where we wish we could replay them. |

| I will probably go with Raushenberger and either Oberweis or Brady. What's the differnce between the two? |
Posted by: Melissa on Mar 6, 2006 at 16:33 PM |
| Larry, Thanks what leads you to prefer Topinka?

| I was leaning towards voting for Judy Baar Topinka but am unsure. |

| Melissa,
Yes, in the Primary, Lt. Governor and Governor are two separate votes. I believe that the reason Steve chose to run with Gidwitz is that he knows that Ron will stand up to the bad guys in Illinois politics, knows how to allocate a state budget so that it does more good than harm, and has the financial resources to take on the "Combine Political Establishment" in Illinois.
Ron has a reputation for surrounding himself with effective people. |

| Chris- Can I support Raushenberger, but not Gidwitz? Why did he choose to run with him? |
Posted by: Melissa on Mar 6, 2006 at 16:24 PM |
| Larry, certainly Rauschenberger for Lt. Governor. We're curious about your choices...which we've asked for the third time. |

| Who are you supporting? |
Posted by: Larry on Mar 6, 2006 at 16:16 PM |
| Larry, It will be short because Blagojevich has already raided the pension funds to get out of town. However, tonight we're talking about the Governor's race. Who do you intend to vote for and why? |
