Terry, I am enthusiastically campaigning for Steve Rauschenberger and prefer Gidwitz for his leadership ability and guts to stand up to the "bad guys" and Oberweis for his positions on social issues (and his typical volunteer is committed to the true conservative cause).

Dear Senator,Are you actively campaigning on any behalf or are you busy with your own election?

Terry, In a local race, the most effective campaigning comes from going door-to-door...times several thousands visits, literally. Secondly, a good way to establish some name recognition is to have lots of yard signs. However, the harsh reality of Illinois politics (because of the size of the state with 12 1/2 million people) is that you cannot win a general election without having about 2.5 to 3.5 million dollars of TV advertising in the last 10 days. When we won the 1998 Republican primary for Comptroller, we had literally 10,000 volunteers organized by county, but our boat got swamped by our general election "machine" Democrat opponent's TV advertising. Actually, this is one of the ways that the Illinois Establishment Politicians (dubbed by John Kass of the Tribune the "Combine") controls who gets elected to office from either party. Consider how difficult it is to get 3,500 people to write you a check for $1,000 for a campaign if you are not willing to make deals with taxpayer money to get those contributions.

I really like that Rauschenberger guy. I know he is running for Lt Governor but he will do a good job!

Dear Senator,For someone like myself the blog is the best thing to ever come about.I have one more question if say for instance a good canidate runs for office from out of the blue like Brady whats the best way to get your name out there. In another future election he stands a chance cause he ran in this one but what else can you do to get your name out there?

Terry, what you write makes sense to me. It was a great pleasure for me to speak to someone who has your enthusiasm.

Dear Senator,I believe that Ron Gidawitz is the answer.Judy Baar Topinka has too much baggage with her connection to Ryan and she sounds like she belongs in a bar.Oberwiess is unelectable and Bill Brady who actually may be one of the better canidates doesn't have the exposure he needs to win.The race is going to damage the Republican party.By the way great talking to you it was the thrill of a lifetime thanks again

| Welcome to tonight's blog. Let me say at the very beginning that my responses and comments are merely my opinion. I respect everybody's opinion.
Kurt, if this were horseracing and there were a prize for picking the front-runner, voting for JBT would win you a prize. However, if Judy wins, on March 22 we will have two candidates who have liberal, social values and represent Illinois Establishment Politics...in my opinion. Where would be the contrast and real choice? |

Although I am in Gary Dahl's district, I have been receiving your enlightening e-newsletters. I think Topinka is the best chance to rid ourselves of Blabovich.
