Illinois Chamber of Commerce Honors Senator Chris Lauzen

SPRINGFIELD-- The Illinois Chamber of Commerce has given State Senator Chris Lauzen (R- Aurora) the 2004 "Champion of Free Enterprise" award for his continued commitment to job providers both in the 25th District and throughout Illinois.

"Senator Lauzen has amassed an impressive voting record in the General Assembly on issues that are vital to job growth in Illinois. The business owners and employees of his district should be proud of his work on their behalf," said Rob Carney, Director of Legislative Relations for the Illinois Chamber.

The Champion of Free Enterprise Award is presented every two years to a select group of legislators. The award is based on legislative voting records over the previous three General Assemblies. Legislators averaging at least an 85% voting record on pro-jobs issues qualify for the award.

"During my many years serving the Fox Valley, I have always kept the strength of our local economy on the front burner when it comes time to vote," Lauzen said. "The work behind this award means a lot to me and the people I serve. I hope it is a reflection of the friendly business climate we continue to try to build here in the 25th District."

This year 28 of the 177 state legislators qualified for the award.

Illinois Chamber of Commerce President Doug Whitley presented Senator Lauzen with the award during the annual "Festival of the Vine" event in Geneva on Saturday September 10.
