SPRINGFIELD, IL- State Senator Chris Lauzen (R- Aurora) has been selected to serve on four major committees that consider financial matters in the Illinois State Senate.
Lauzen has been named the highest ranking Republican on the Senate Revenue Committee and Appropriations II Committee, as well as being appointed to posts on the Appropriations I and III Committees.
"I have always viewed my service in the Senate as an opportunity to hold my colleagues accountable to their promise to spend your money wisely. I am proud my record of holding the line on spending your hard-earned tax dollars" said Lauzen, a 14-year member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. "I believe this year's budget, and other fiscal decisions made by the Ruling Majority, will have long-lasting financial consequences to our state. I am proud to continue being a fervent watchdog for the taxpayers in my district by serving on these important committees."
Senator Lauzen is entering his 15th year as the Senior Republican on the Revenue Committee which analyzes and votes on all legislation involving taxes. Members of the Appropriations Committee evaluate the budget presentations for all state agencies during the months of February through May each year.
Senator Lauzen has also been assigned a post on the Senate Labor Committee, which considers legislation affecting the labor and business communities in Illinois.
Lauzen will again serve as Co-Chairman of the Legislative Audit Commission, a bi-partisan spending watchdog group that reviews the audits of state agencies conducted by the Auditor General and his staff.
