Growing up in Kane County, specifically, St. Charles, was such an incredible experience that honestly, as I was growing up, I didn't realize until I got older and in High School. I realized that I was blessed to grow up here, such that I always knew that if I had the chance, I would raise my family here.

My career allowed me to stay local and I raised my 3 kids, with my wife Mary, in Geneva. As my kids are all now adults, they too have come to realize what a blessing it was to be raised in Kane County.

Kane County has everything a person could ever want. We are far enough away from the "big city" to enjoy open fields, rivers/streams, bike trails and downtowns that are welcoming and generally very safe. And yet, we are close enough to essentials like schools, hospitals, airports and the "big city" of Chicago.

As I look to move/retire in the next few years, I will be leaving Kane County and I know I will miss it. But, I will always have the memories. Whether it was a 12 year old paperboy for the Beacon News, to every summer afternoon at Potawatomie Pool, to playing sports with friends and in organized leagues, to walking downtown Geneva or St. Charles with my wife, I will always thank God for putting me right smack in the middle of Kane County these last 56 years.
